InterNexa Peru expands fiber optic network for mining companies and telecom operators in northern corridor

The fiber optic infrastructure connects strategic cities on the coast, highlands and jungle, and reinforces high-availability connectivity in the mining corridor in the north of the country.

Lima, August 2025. - In line with our commitment to reduce the digital divide and build a robust and reliable connectivity infrastructure, we announced the official launch of our third fiber optic ring, an engineering work that strengthens the redundancy and coverage of our optical transport network in Peru, connecting more than 10 key cities on the coast, highlands and jungle of the country.

High-availability network for critical operations

This expansion represents a strategic milestone in the country's digital transformation and was developed by deploying 629 km of optical fiber over high-voltage power lines, which guarantees a high-availability network for critical operations. The new ring connects cities such as Yurimaguas, Moyobamba, Chachapoyas, Cajamarca, Carhuaquero, Piura, Chiclayo, Trujillo, Chimbote, Huacho, Lima, La Oroya, Carhuamayo, Tingo María, Tocache, Bellavista and Tarapoto, enabling high-performance connectivity, ideal for productive sectors such as mining, telecommunications and government.

This third ring is much more than infrastructure: it is a clear sign that we continue to bet on a more connected, more competitive country with better opportunities for all. In this project alone we have invested more than US$ 1.3 million, benefiting historically underserved areas and bringing us even closer to our current and future customers , said César Huamán, commercial director of InterNexa Peru.

Strengthening the northern mining corridor

With this deployment, we brought our network closer to the northern mining corridor, particularly the cluster from Cajamarca to Ancash, opening new connection opportunities in areas where high-speed optical transport networks did not exist or were unreliable for critical operations.

In addition, the deployment included the construction of 3 new strategic nodes that will allow us to expand service coverage for operators, regional ISPs, public institutions, mining projects and users with critical operations. With this, we consolidated our presence in the country with 93 nodes in 24 regions.

Committed to a digitally human world

In InterNexa we reaffirm our purpose of building a digitally human world, where technology is at the service of development, equity and people. This new fiber optic ring is an example of our commitment to close the digital divide and bring high availability connectivity to more Peruvians, from the large urban centers to the most remote regions of the country.
